Tokyo, June 13, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Friday it has received about 36,000 purchase orders for its new luxury minivans, the Alphard and the Vellfire, one month after their debut on May 12.
The total is six times more than the joint monthly sales target of 6,000 units.
The models' luxurious interiors and high fuel efficiency seem to be attracting buyers in their 30s and 40s, Toyota said.
There were around 16,000 orders for the Alphard and about 20,000 for the Vellfire.
