Toshiba signs nuclear cooperation pact with Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom

TOKYO —Toshiba Corp said Friday the Japanese nuclear plant builder and Kazakhstan’s state-run atomic company Kazatomprom have signed a memorandum promoting their nuclear energy cooperation.

The two will consider their cooperation using beryllium, tantalum and other materials for nuclear power plants, manufacturing nuclear plant components and developing supply chains for such plants, Toshiba said. Toshiba has also invited the Kazakh firm to invest in Westinghouse Electric Co, a U.S. nuclear reactor builder that Toshiba has acquired.
