'Mixi' blog site attracts 5,000 new members per day

"TOKYO — One of the fastest growing sites for bloggers in Japan is the Social Network Service (SNS) website "mixi," which has attracted about 860,000 registered members since its start in February 2004. "We're seeing 5,000 people registering every day," says mixi PR spokeswoman Hiroko Kobori, adding that in order to log in, you have to be invited by someone who is already registered."
