Hitachi Aims for 1 TB Hard Drive

"Hitachi Global Storage achieved a density of 230 gigabits per square inch; double that of today's areal densities. Using perpendicular recording, the company not only claims that 1 TB 3.5-inch drives are possible in the near future, but that Microdrives may soon reach 20 GB sizes as well. Drives packing 230 Gb/in² are expected to reach shelves in 2007."
