Japanese researchers have discovered stem cells in human heart tissue

"Japanese researchers have discovered stem cells in human heart tissue, a development that could lead to improved treatments for heart disease and reduce the need for transplants, a Japanese newspaper reported Friday.

The breakthrough came by a team of scientists at Kyoto University led by Hiroaki Matsubara, who will present the findings at the annual meeting of the Japanese College of Cardiology in Osaka on Sept. 19, the Yomiuri newspaper said."
